What was Jesus’ main teaching? |
Jesus summed up his own teaching in the words, "Love God with all your heart, all your mind, and all your strength, and love your neighbor as yourself." Jesus' message, which we continue to proclaim today, is that God loves all people more than we can possibly imagine, and seeks to be in meaningful relationship with us.
There is no one who is excluded from God's love. Jesus' ministry made God's love known to those who are often left out or belittled by society, both in his own time and today - women and children, the sick, the poor and needy, outcasts, and the oppressed. Jesus taught and demonstrated that no person, no matter what their background, ethnicity, class, race, or gender is excluded from God's love and care. Followers of Jesus are all called to emulate his ministry of compassion, care, and love for all, especially those who are sick, poor, needy, outcast, oppressed, and downtrodden. |
